Ladies Day of Fall Fun: Part 1

Every year my group of best girl friends get together and do fall things!

This year we went out to brunch (I had a delicious loaded baked potato omlette and some berry bliss pancakes) and then to a farm to do some pumpkin picking and fall activities.

This was a new farm this year so we weren't really sure what to expect. One of us had found it online and saw that it had a corn maze (a fall requirement), hay rides, pumpkin picking, and animal petting zoo.

but this was no ordinary petting zoo...

They had over 50 different exotic animals. Like ZOO animals!

I got to feed and pet a Giraffe! They are actually quite soft and whiskery. BEST PETTING ZOO EVER!

Along with the Giraffe they had little joeys. I didn't get to pet any of them because there were too many asshole kids and their parents in the way, but I did get to see them up close!

They had all sorts of different types of deer, goats, and sheep which were hilarious to feed and pet. Personal fave were the Gemsbok :)

They had quite the plethora of very cool pheasants (Like the Peacock or the Golden Crested) and various birds of prey. And this was pretty much one of the BEST parts of (my life) the day.

They had a pair of Kookaburras! I LOVE Kookaburras! They are pretty badass eating snakes and frogs and smaller birds (yeah ok maybe a bit assholey but all the more reason to love them!) and their call is AWESOME!

For some crazy stupid unknown reason I had never seen one in person before! In all the zoo's I've been to they just haven't had any. What!? Crazy! (seriously stupid)

So there I am standing outside their enclosure pretty much giggling like a 2 year old and I just wanted to hear them sing. SING TO ME! So I pulled out my phone and pulled up a Youtube vid of a kookaburra call and hit play (Youtube don't fail me now!)

Immediately they sat right up and started turning their heads and hopping around their branch. I hit play again and one started to fly about. Commme onnnnnn just sing! I hit the next video and TADAH! That got them talking :)

Life complete! Seriously the highlight of EVER!

After I blissed out over a favorite animal for a good 20 minutes we wandered to see more of the animals like the baby tigers and baby bear cubes. Some of the animals you couldn't feed or pet, like these. Booo :(

Over all the day was lots of fun. I mean how could you not have fun with your besties while petting exotic creatures!?

The one down fall of the day was: Children.

Oh how I hate children. No really. I absolutely HATE children. I've never wanted children. And if I didn't hate them before... yesterday just cemented the fact.

I have never been around so many disrespectful, rude, asshole children and parents in my life!

If I had been running around stomping on people's toes, pushing them out of the way, and mouthing off to COMPLETE STRANGERS I would have been immediately taken out of there and then smacked a good one.

And the parents were worse. Shoving their kids in front of you when you were CLEARLY waiting patiently for your turn to feed one of the creatures. Or ramming you in the ankles with the strollers with nary an apologize.

Seriously. By the end I had no problem cussing out parent OR child for their abhorrent behavior.

Still with all of that nonsense.... I still got to pet a Giraffe and made a Kookaburra sing to me!
